Advice for Vessels wishing to use Bonded Stores

The use of your bond on a vessel is a complex issue within the UK jurisdiction, we have tried to simplify this as much as possible, however it is beneficial that you are also fully aware of the guidelines in the below link which provide you all the information you require:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/excise-notice-69a-duty-free-ships-stores/excisenotice-69a-duty-free-ships-stores There are two main areas that are considered here:

 12nm UK Territorial Border
 An area called "The Box" which holds the coordinates of the seas bounded by latitudes 48°30N and 61°0N and longitude 12°0W, the Skagerrak and the Kattegat.
The common misconception with bonded stores are that once you are outside of the 12nm UK border the bonded store can be opened and used. This is not the case for many vessels working in the North Sea.
